Safeguarding Statement
At St Augustine's our aim is to ensure the safety and well being of all our pupils and staff and to follow laws and guidelines for the protection of children and adults. We value all those with whom we come into contact and aim to treat all people with respect and care.
We have created this policy statement with due regard to: Keeping Children Safe in Education (September 2021) and the most recent guidance, Common law duty of confidence, Human Rights Act 1998, Data Protection Act 1998, Children Act 2004, Freedom of Information Act 2000, The Caldicott Standards,
Safe guarding outcomes for children are:
Children and young people are safe
effective services in taking reasonable steps to ensure that young people are safe
Safeguarding is not just protecting children from deliberate harm, it includes:
- Health and safety
- Bullying
- Racist abuse
- Harassment and discrimination
- Prevention of radicalisation
- Use of physical intervention
- Meeting needs of pupils with medical conditions
- Providing first aid
- Drug and substance misuse
- Educational visits
- Intimate care
- Internet safety
- School security
- Attendance
- Child self help to keep themselves safe
- Rigour of governing body procedures to ensure health, safety and well-being of all staff and pupils in school
- The effectiveness of school’s work with agencies to ensure health and well-being
- Risk assessments to manage or eliminate risks
- Extended school procedures and provision
- Severe Weather
